Kitchen furniture

Although the kitchen is perceived as a room for cooking and tasting food, it is not a mistake to simplify this area of the home. Over time, kitchens have become more and more important, as they are used for cooking, eating and, often, for meeting friends, colleagues or just having fun. Rational planning of the kitchen interior and the most important pieces of furniture is what will make your kitchen feel cosy and aesthetic. Only when you have thought things through and are sure that your plan will ensure ergonomics and comfort, can you feel confident in the design of your new kitchen. After all, the kitchen is the heart of the home.

Wood in the kitchen

Wood panels and engraved wood will create a real sense of grace, cosiness and splendour in your kitchen. As a material for furniture, wood is versatile and multifaceted: it can be used to create many different surfaces, to choose the gloss you want, to apply different ornaments. For this reason, wood is one of the most common materials for kitchen furniture. Imitation wood is not only suitable for cabinets or kitchen sets, but also for worktops. The predominance of wood in kitchen furniture distinguishes between different types of kitchen interiors: contemporary, classic and rustic. The contemporary style is characterised by modern constructions with few wood motifs, while the classic and especially the rustic style are dominated by wood. Classic interiors are a delight with wooden doors, faux wood textures and decorative details. The rustic kitchen style is characterised by the imitation of natural wood, with most of the furniture in the kitchen being finished in wood, and with a rougher standard of furniture predominating.

Basic Kitchen Furniture

It's no secret that no housewife can do without the three main pieces of kitchen furniture: the fridge, the cooker and the sink. It is said that these pieces of furniture should be spaced as far apart as possible, as this is the only way to make it really easy and comfortable to move around the kitchen. It is considered best to choose a fridge that will meet your family's needs - the most important thing is to choose the right size. Once you have chosen the size of fridge that suits you, it is a good idea to look at the inside of the fridge: whether there are separate shelves for different products, whether the inside of the fridge is protected against unpleasant odours, mould and bacteria. Planning the sink also requires a lot of effort. A ceramic sink that will not rust and will last for a long time is the most recommended choice. If you have a limited budget for your kitchen and a ceramic sink is not a priority, a cast metal sink with a colourless finish is recommended, as these last much longer than plastic and coloured sinks. It is advisable to 'build' the sink into the cupboard, and if you have an island table in your dining room, feel free to plan the sink there. It is also advisable to choose a hob instead of a conventional cooker, which not only saves space but is also more appealing to the eye.

...and other important kitchen furniture

A common problem in furniture planning is a small kitchen. In this case, it is advisable to arrange the furniture in an "L" shape - furniture placed along the walls will not only ensure free movement in the room, but will also be functional and conveniently placed. As you know, cabinets are unavoidable in the kitchen. The smaller the kitchen, the lighter and smaller the cabinets themselves should be. Also, avoid open shelving, cabinets that do not close - such a look will be unaesthetic. The only way to have a comfortable kitchen is to hang the cabinets at the same height and to have a door that covers the entire contents. The table is also a very important feature of the kitchen. If you can enjoy a spacious kitchen, you should definitely choose a large, preferably wooden, table that can accommodate not only family members but also guests. An elegant table and matching chairs will create a feeling of completeness and cosiness. And of course, don't forget the right chandeliers. Often the lighting "problem" is solved by hanging one single light fixture. However, this is not a commendable move, as several individual luminaires will make your kitchen interior more revealing and cosy. It is recommended that LED lights are fitted under the hanging cupboards - small, quiet lights will create a relaxing atmosphere. On the other hand, a larger, shared light fixture is essential - in the darker seasons you want as much light as possible, and twilight and romantic lights are not always an option.
